Carnegie Deli pop-up at Saratoga Racetrack becomes a crowd favorite – Saratogian
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – As the 2022 meet brings people from all over to Saratoga Racecourse, fans are starting to frequent New York’s famed Carnegie Deli’s new summer pop-up.
Located in the historic grandstand, this new trackside restaurant is quickly becoming popular with the crowds at Saratoga Racetrack.
The deli’s hot pastrami and corned beef sandwiches – stacked with meat – are on the pop-up menu, along with other Carnegie classics such as hot dogs, cheesecake bites and black and white cookies.
This pop-up is presented in collaboration with the Adelphi Hotel in Spa City, which also serves Carnegie Deli cuisine in its Morrissey’s Lounge & Bistro.
“We’ve seen such a positive response from Saratoga Springs customers, so we jumped at the chance to open a new pop-up location at Saratoga Racetrack, a place where the past comes alive every summer and where sports and hospitality can come together,” Carnegie Deli General Manager Sarri Harper said in a press release.
Originally established in 1937 in Midtown Manhattan by Sarri’s grandfather, Milton Parker, Carnegie Deli has become widely known throughout its 85-year history. It’s been featured in every medium imaginable, including TV shows, magazines, newspapers, and Adam Sandler’s “Chanukah Song.”
The deli has served many of New York’s most famous artists, from Robin Williams, Mel Brooks and Stevie Wonder to stars like Stephen Spielberg, Alec Baldwin and Conan O’Brien decades later.
Today, the Carnegie Deli brand is owned by Milton’s daughter, Marian Harper, along with Sarri, and together they aim to provide customers with the ultimate New York deli experience while maintaining the same standards that have earned Carnegie his iconic name.
The Saratoga Springs pop-up was designed to evoke nostalgia associated with a new perspective, and company officials believe the Saratoga Racetrack is the perfect setting for customers to indulge in Carnegie Deli’s offerings.
“Carnegie Deli’s pop-up booth is turning heads on the runway,” a company spokesperson said. “Delicatessen’s deep roots in New York’s celebrity culture tie in perfectly with Saratoga’s rich history, creating a perfect backdrop for the Saratoga fashion show with tall hats, hands holding glasses from Moët & Chandon and demanding track enthusiasts looking for luxury experiences.
“People are looking for a cultural experience and our pop-up stand exceeds their expectations.”
A Carnegie Deli VIP Picnic Basket is exclusively available at the Saratoga Racetrack location.
Hand-delivered in a wicker suitcase, the picnic is lavishly filled with gourmet sandwiches, decadent cheesecake bites and vintage Coca-Cola bottles. For $250, the basket feeds eight people with two pastrami sandwiches, two corned beef sandwiches, two turkey sandwiches with Russian dressing, two New York hot dogs, cheesecake bites, dark biscuits and whites and retro sweets.
“Without a doubt, Carnegie Deli’s VIP Picnic Basket is stealing the show on the runway this year,” the company spokesperson said. “Abundantly filled with gourmet sandwiches, decadent chocolate-covered cheesecake bites and vintage Coca-Cola bottles, this deluxe picnic hamper is an Instagram dream to unbox in the grandstands or VIP clubhouse. “
The pop-up Carnegie Deli stand is open during Saratoga Racetrack hours for the remainder of the competition.
