It was an amazing look from J.Lo: Jennifer Lopez stunned in this daring dress by David Koma. The talented beauty’s mini dress featured long sleeves, a high neck, and a lace-up detail along the bodice and sides of the skirt, which also featured glittery embellishments. Her clear heels and long, wavy hairstyle cemented this look as a serious victory – and one of her best looks lately!

Lil Nas X rocked the custom Versace at the MTV VMAs. Its pale purple design looked like a pantsuit on one side, but told a different story on the other …
From another angle, Lil Nas X’s Versace outfit looked like a ball gown – with a plunging neckline. The following ? A look from the front!
The front view shows how confusing Lil Nas X’s Versace number really was – part a pantsuit, part a cape detail that could pass for a ball gown. And while we loved the shade – and the perfectly matched boots – the crazy figure missed it.
Camila Cabello seduced by the surprising combo of pink and red colors in this Alexis Mabille confection. From the hot pink strapless bodice to the oversized two-tone bow that starts at the waist and cascades over the ruby red skirt, we loved every part of this glamorous dress. Discover her beauty and her jewelry then …
Camila Cabello added some funky mismatched earrings from Katkim to the mix and kept things cool with hot pink eye makeup and a pink lip to complete her fabulous MTV VMA look.
The styling of Shawn Mendes’ crisp all-white Mans suit left a lot to be desired. The star rocked the fitted white blazer and loose pants coordinated with a low-cut silk tank top by Judy Turner. And when it came time to add shoes, he ruined his monochrome look with black loafers.
It wasn’t just the men who opted for minimal shirts under jackets at the MTV VMAs. Avril Lavigne showed up in this cute pink checkered area suit, holding a silver Jimmy Choo bag. While we liked her bright and cheerful coordinates, her choice to wear this beaded Christalea top baffled us. She finished with some spectacular black Stuart Weitzman heels that we could have done without.
Machine Gun Kelly stood out among the MTV VMA men – and not just because he wore a shirt under his blazer (more on that later)! The singer’s bright red printed Dolce & Gabbana suit matched the carpet and paired perfectly with black dress shoes, almost rivaling the wild look that her other half, Megan Fox, chose …
It was a very daring (and barely there) Mugler design for Megan Fox! The beautiful wore this dress with straps almost entirely transparent with thin straps with a lining at the level of the bust… and nowhere else. To see from the front then …
Megan Fox’s wispy Mugler choice, which was sheer down to her midi hemline, showed off her equally minimal underwear. She paired the look with gold strappy sandals for a daring fashion moment.
The following ? A not-so-daring fashion moment. We were seriously disappointed with rising star Olivia Rodrigo’s choice of MTV VMA. Her strapless, fitted Versace dress featured a dark pink and coral color combo for a pretty but forgettable pairing. The following ? A better glimpse of her jewelry and her makeup …
Olivia Rodrigo accessorized her pink and orange Versace number with equally un-exciting jewelry – dazzling butterfly earrings.
Ciara has established herself as one of the best dressed stars of the night, stunning in this phenomenal black lace Tom Ford creation. The long-sleeved dress featured a bold cutout along the bodice and a floor-length maxi skirt that gathered at the bottom to add an additional infusion of drama.
Paris Hilton looked futuristic in shiny silver in this Richard Quinn mini dress. The long sleeve dress started off well with a high neck and structured sleeves, but lost us with the weird super short, asymmetrical hem. The star added even more money with pointy toe pumps.
Recognize this guy? We almost didn’t! Turns out, Nick Cannon decided to hide behind sunglasses and carry a red Solo mug to accessorize his odd MTV VMA outfit – a silver cropped tank top, baggy white pants, and glittery gold boots.
Billie Eilish was surprisingly low-key to MTV VMAs. The star, known for her extravagant red carpet looks, opted for a black sweater over a midi-length black lace dress instead, adding chunky boots to the mix and adopting a minimalist (and comfy!) Style.
Tinashe went for a pretty funky cut on the MTV VMA red carpet. The singer wore this cropped black top with a jagged edge with low waist brown leather pants that included some pretty intense black lace up details. She accessorized the busy outfit with even busier accessories, which we’ll see next …
Tinashe added layers upon layers of necklaces to her wild look, cementing it like a messy miss.
Retain it for men? Ed Sheeran, who looked great in a Versace tuxedo jacket! The musician rocked the classic baroque print of the fashion house and paired it with a black shirt with embroidery on the collar, black pants and dress shoes for an elegant look.
It was a black and white Louis Vuitton jumpsuit for Alicia Keys. The star walked the red carpet in this cover-up outfit with dramatic ruffled sleeves and what appeared to be shoes built into the outfit.
No one can call Rita Ora’s Vera Wang looking boring! The star arrived in this bizarre cutout-covered pattern, which she paired with a long cape and dramatic thigh-high boots. But her odd outfit wasn’t the strangest part of her MTV VMAs set…
Rita Ora has found a surprising place to add jewelry: her teeth! The star rocked a weird knotted hairstyle to complete her funky MTV VMA look.
Another pair of leather pants we weren’t crazy about? The shiny skinny version of Jamila Mustafa, which she paired with a strapless flower pattern top with a sweetheart neckline and tie waist. And while we weren’t fans of the outfit, we loved these sandals with the dazzling bow detail.
Here’s a new take on men’s fashion: Jaden Hossler wore his gray suit without a jersey to the MTV VMAs. He added chunky black boots to his unorthodox red carpet look.
Another guy who decided not to wear a shirt? Musician The Kid Laroi neglected to add a t-shirt under his otherwise all-leather outfit. He ended with another fashion faux pas: the Converse sneakers on the red carpet.
A men’s fashion risk that paid off? Troye Sivan’s Fendi from head to toe! The singer’s cropped blazer and shorts coordinate perfectly with knee high socks and dress shoes for an incredibly cool combination.
Shay Mitchell looked lovely in red at the MTV VMAs! The beauty’s structured mini dress featured an all-over glossy print and was styled perfectly with bronze strappy sandals and trendy earrings. To see then …
Shay Mitchell added some serious earrings to her MTV VMA outfit – funky beauties in gold.
TikTok star Bella Poarch certainly made a statement during her first MTV VMAs. She chose a very extravagant black lace jumpsuit and a dramatic cape that included a train following her down the red carpet.
Ashanti arrived in this barely visible black dress with many straps, a halter neckline and a half skirt. Michael Costello’s unique design makes for an ideal fashion moment at the wild event.
The MTV VMAs had no shortage of barely veiled black dresses! Charli XCX also joined the trend by going for this mini dress with sheer panels, lots of lace and cutouts and messy fringes hanging from the hem. We weren’t fans of the dress, but we loved the point-toe Christian Louboutins that she added to the mix.
Pretty in pink! Madison Beer wowed in a Dolce & Gabbana dress in pale pink tones with spaghetti straps, a corset-style corset and a sky-high slit. The dress is from 2003 and was worn by Beyonce before – when Madison was only 4 years old!
The oversized fashion continued with the evening’s host, Doja Cat, selecting this bizarre Vivienne Westwood outfit for her red carpet look. The barely-there purple and black mini dress would have been a fashion lack on its own, but it took it to the next level when it comes to accessories. From those odd red thigh-high tights she wore under lace-up platform heels to big jewels and dramatic makeup (which we’ll get to see up close), we didn’t feel any part of this ensemble.
Dramatic purple eyeshadow, mauve lip, and chunky mismatched jewelry cemented this Doja Cat look like a fashion disaster.
Compared to the bold looks on the rest of the carpet, Debby Ryan’s LBD was downright boring! The star arrived in a mini dress with a ruffled neckline and straps and added knee-length boots – a snoozy jumpsuit on such a crazy night.
What’s going on here, Normani? The singer arrived at MTV VMAs in these white Patrycja Pagas coordinates – a dramatic, shirtless cropped blazer and a tiny, strategically placed miniskirt. White pointed-toe pumps completed the odd outfit.
We’re not quite sure what’s going on here, but we know we don’t like it. German singer-songwriter Kim Petras chose to wear a black mask (or a full bodysuit?)
Charli D’Amelio channeled the ’90s into this set of pink coordinates. The TikTok star wore a cropped tank top and matching skirt by Aliétte with Giuseppe Zanotti strappy sandals in the same bubblegum hue, then incorporated a black choker and bear-shaped clutch.
Nessa wore this cute black dress with spaghetti stripes, a fitted bodice and a pretty ruffled tulle skirt. She paired it with simple black sandals. Simplicity was an unexpected breath of fresh air on the crazy red carpet!
