Ireland Baldwin reveals Buzz Cut and responds to ‘mean’ comments

Ireland Baldwin debuted a trendy new cut over the weekend – but not all of the reviews she’s received for the look have been rave reviews.

The 26-year-old model, who is the daughter of actor Alec Baldwin and his ex-wife Kim Basinger, posted two selfies on Instagram Saturday showing off her daring new hairstyle.

“Don’t tell me I won’t do something because I will,” wrote Baldwin, who posed in the photos wearing a light blue t-shirt.

Basinger commented on the post, “She’s my baby…Don’t tell her not to do something….cause she will….I witnessed it and have for many years…Just beautiful .”

Baldwin’s celebrity pals also commented to give him a bold nudge.

“So stunning,” wrote “Queer Eye” hair and makeup expert Jonathan Van Ness.

“Dreamer,” wrote Hilary Duff.

Emmy winner Sarah Paulson also loved Baldwin’s new look. “Beauty,” she exclaimed.

However, Baldwin’s haircut has also inspired some not-so-kind comments, as she herself pointed out in a post on her Instagram Stories.

“I got some really nice messages about my face. Thanks for getting me excited,” Baldwin wrote on another selfie that showed her wearing glasses alongside a photoshopped image of a bunny.

“And for those of you who are mean, stay mad,” she continued jokingly, “You’re just mad, I’m a cuter boy than you.”

In April, Baldwin opened up about how damaging it was to hear negative comments about her looks when she was growing up as the child of celebrity parents.

“I’ve been called a fat, ugly, worthless, irrelevant version by grown adults on the internet since I was a kid. That’s nothing new,” Baldwin wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post.

“Words hurt, no matter how much I pretend they don’t,” she added.

Baldwin called out more recent online critics for writing negative comments about “invasive” paparazzi photos that showed her “cellulite, back fat, double chin” and breasts.

The model, who publicly celebrated six years without anorexia or bulimia in 2020, also noted how hurtful it was to hear she wasn’t as pretty as her mother.

“I’ve spent far too many years starving myself, gorging myself, purging, measuring, stepping on scales, spitting food into my purse and ruining my body because a troll told me that i would never be as thin and beautiful as my mother,” she wrote.

Baldwin thanked his mother and father for giving him love and support throughout his life.

“My parents have been so helpful in my life,” she wrote, adding, “My mom never went a day without telling me how much she believes in me.”
