Tractor Supply Company Receives FTC Clearance to Complete Acquisition of Orscheln Farm and Home

The largest rural lifestyle retailer in the United States announced that it has received Federal Trade Commission clearance to complete its acquisition of Orscheln Farm and Home.

Tractor Supply Company will net acquire 81 stores and divest the remaining 85 stores to two FTC-approved buyers: Bomgaars Supply, Inc. (73 stores) and Buchheit Enterprises, Inc. (12 stores), shortly after the transaction closes.

In addition, Tractor Supply has agreed to sell Orscheln Farm and Home‘s headquarters and distribution center to Moberly in Bomgaars for approximately $10 million within 15 months of closing the transaction.

Bomgaars is in talks to retain much of the staff at Moberly, but will not move its headquarters to Moberly. Bomgaars plans to continue using the distribution center.

“We also view Bomgaar’s acquisition of the head office and distribution center as a strong sign of the work in progress and the preservation of the jobs that will be needed to serve the 16 new Bomgaar stores through the Moberly distribution center,” said the company said in a statement.
