This move by the government went against the interests of small traders/traders who had been managing their livelihoods for a long time. They said that despite the assurance given by the administration to CCI in the past, the government has given a nod to the opening of this store in Jammu which will seriously affect the local commerce in Jammu which has already been hit hard by direct train service to Katra.
Meanwhile, Deepak Gupta said tomorrow an emergency meeting of all trade bodies in Jammu has been called where the next course of action will be decided. He said there was a strong resentment among traders in Jammu against this move by the ruling government and the trader will not remain silent.
Meanwhile, the Congress party led by top leaders Raman Bhalla (CPC Labor Chairman), Yogesh Sawhney, Manmohan Singh, PYC leader Uday Bhanu Chib and others staged a protest in Jammu today and strongly opposed BJP government’s decision to open Reliance Store in Jammu and says it will hit traders in Jammu hard.
They said that the traders in Jammu have already been suffering for a few years and now with such moves by the LG administration, the new small start-ups will face an untimely death. Such moves will prove counterproductive for the BJP, they claimed.
Chief NC leader and former Minister Babu Ram Paul has also opposed the opening of Reliance Store in Jammu. He said the government should reconsider its decision.
