Zhao Xintong clinched the final five frames to reach the German Masters final with a 6-3 victory over Ricky Walden.
In a match that featured many costly misses from both players, Walden had a golden chance to take a 4-1 lead but missed a relatively easy green that allowed Zhao to steal the frame. And Walden never recovered as the Chinese player kept his cool throughout the streak to book his place in the final.
It was another impressive victory for Zhao, who is coming off a decisive victory at the UK Championship and beat Mark Williams and Judd Trump at the Tempodrom in Berlin en route to the semi-finals. He will face the winner between Mark Allen and Yan Bingtao in the final.

Zhao got off to a shaky start, however, and Walden took a 3-1 lead in the opening session after making the most of several unforced errors from his opponent.
The Englishman opened with a break of 74 after Zhao missed a black from close range and left his opponent with an easy to start red.
Both players then missed chances to take control of the second frame, but it was Zhao’s error at 45-42 that proved decisive as Walden managed to shut him down for a 2-0 lead .
Walden had a 14-0 lead in the third before making a mistake trying to run to safety, which gave Zhao the chance he needed to settle into the game. The player landed a classy break of 78 to put his first frame on the board.
Zhao should have fixed everything in the interval after building a 51 break in the fourth frame before missing a relatively easy rose down the center right, and Walden responded with a ruthless 66 run to build a 3-1 lead.
But Zhao was able to steal the fifth frame in dramatic fashion after Walden methodically built a 60 break to miss the green in place. Zhao then needed a great recovery shot to pocket the brown and nearly missed the blue before shooting within one.
This proved the key momentum swing in the game.
In the sixth, Zhao took a 65-1 lead and nearly finished the frame, but he failed to pass on a red and then played a poor safety shot to give Walden an opening. The Englishman couldn’t punish his opponent this time as he missed the final red in the 31st minute and Zhao then leveled the game.
It was a procession from there. After taking a 4-3 lead, Zhao broke 72 to win the eighth frame and then reached the first ton of the game to see victory.
